if only those signs could talk

April 26, 2011

Off the beaten track, but not far from the enormously polished hotels of the Las Vegas strip is a place where the true spirit of old style Vegas lies.

The Neon Boneyard.

An amazing goldmine of history (not to mention a fantastic treasure trove of photo opportunities!) … a place where old neon goes to rest, before being refurbished and brought back to life through the efforts of the Neon Museum society.

Vintage, kitschy-cool to walk amongst the old neon and ponder what kind of people used to venture there back in the day (mobsters, gangsters, showgirls, the rat pack?)

and a stroll down Fremont street at night catches some of the Neon Museum‘s handiwork in all of it’s full, restored glory!

  • Fun Fact: Try locating the Neon Boneyard through Google Earth…. one of the signs are literally staring right up at you!! ;-))
